Why should I
become a member of AFS?
Being a part
of a professional organization is an important part of the educational
experience. The American Fisheries Society is the world's oldest
fisheries professional organization and has a long-standing history of
excellence in fisheries science. Student members may reap many
benefits, including the opportunity to network with fisheries
professionals and gaining relevant field experience. To learn more
about the benefits of joining the Parent Society of AFS, please click
here. If you are interested in joining the SDSU Student
Subunit, please contact the
President.
What are some
of our former members of the SDSU Student Subunit doing now?
Wes Bouska (B.S., December 2006) is a
Graduate Research Assistant (MS) at Kansas State University in Manhattan,
KS. His project involves fish passage issues at road crossings and
will largely focus on the federally endangered Topeka shiner.
Matt Ward (M.S., 2005) is currently employed as a hatchery biologist at
Blue Dog Lake State Fish Hatchery in Waubay, SD.
